Friends are There to Help You is the name of the song the kids sang in "If It Smells Like an Ed." The kids and The Eds (replacing Jonny 2x4 and Plank) also sing it at the end of Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show.

Lyrics

When you stub your toe and it hurts you know,
Friends are there to help you.
When you trip on your face and your teeth are misplaced,
Friends are there to help you.
When you're flyin' low and you're givin' a show,
Friends are there to help you.
When you take off your shoes and your feet stink – PEE-YEW!
Friends are there to help you.

Trivia

  • The notes in this song make it vaguely sound like "Polly Wolly Doodle".
  • This song was also used in Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, as the finale number and during the end credits. Also, when Edd tapes the screen "The End", you can hear Jimmy saying "Second verse, same as the first!", which was reused from "If It Smells Like an Ed."
  • It was revealed in an interview conducted by Kit Topp (on the Animation by Mistake website) that Danny Antonucci had originally wanted to use the 1965 song "What the World Needs Now is Love" originally sung by Jackie DeShannon and written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. However, he faced copyright issues with the people who owned the copyrights for the song, who demanded high royalty payments. As a result, he ended up writing "Friends are There to Help You" instead.
  • Jimmy's quote "Second verse, same as the first!" is a reference to the Herman's Hermits song, "I'm Henery the Eighth, I Am".
